Obstetrical Outreach Program

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with MUSC Health and the University of South Carolina to increase the accessibility of care available to South Carolina’s rural patients with high risk pregnancies. This program supports the Birth Outcomes Initiative in promoting and facilitating the best possible results for mothers and babies in South Carolina. These efforts are focused on a four county area including Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell and Hampton counties.
Through this program, Maternal Fetal specialists partner with local providers and other community partners to provide specialty consultative services and accessible prenatal care to underserved populations. These essential partnerships enable the management of care for high risk conditions like obesity, diabetes or hypertension and increase the availability of health screenings and preparation for delivery.
