These groups collaborate to expand access, improve quality, and address local needs — whether in schools, hospitals, or rural communities. By aligning strategies across the state, the workgroups help ensure that telehealth in South Carolina is effective, sustainable, and accessible for all residents.
AMBULATORY STRATEGY
School-Based Telehealth
Focuses on expanding access to care for students by integrating telehealth services into schools. The group works to improve coordination between providers, school nurses and staff, and families to support children’s physical and behavioral health.

Telehealth Education
Brings together academic institutions, health care leaders, allied health training programs, digital navigators and community partners to embed telehealth into professional training and patient education. The group develops resources and strategies to prepare the workforce and communities for evolving models of care.

POPULATION HEALTH STRATEGY
Remote Patient Monitoring
Convenes clinical, operational, and policy leaders from across the state to advance the effective use of RPM in improving patient outcomes and care access. The group focuses on sharing best practices, addressing reimbursement and regulatory considerations, standardizing workflows, and identifying scalable models for implementation across diverse care settings.

POPULATION HEALTH STRATEGY
Collaborative Care Behavioral Health Integration
Advances the use of virtual care tools to optimize team-based models that integrate behavioral health into primary care settings. The group focuses on implementation of the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM), reimbursement and regulatory alignment, and sustainable workflows that expand access to high-quality mental health services across South Carolina.

ACUTE/INPATIENT STRATEGY
Acute and Inpatient Telehealth Workgroup
Supports service, quality, and efficiency of virtual care models that support rural and community hospitals such as tele-hospitalist programs, virtual rounding models, specialty consults, tele-ICU, and virtual nursing—leveraging telehealth to expand clinical capacity, enhance care coordination, and improve patient safety.

Digital Navigation Workgroup
Supports access, adoption, engagement, and effectiveness of virtual care. This workgroup exists to create a dedicated, action-oriented space to address barriers to virtual care access and awareness related to digital skills and education, devices, and connectivity. Open to those who are working to improve virtual care access and awareness in South Carolina.
